  • Rocky Mountain National Park offers guidance on pets in the park.
  • While dogs are not allowed on trails in RMNP, we have highlighted a few trails that allow dogs below.
  • The Estes Park Dog Park, along Hwy 36 and Community Drive, is a great option for your pup to get some fresh air and exercise.
  • Be sure to study the trails and bring the essentials (food, water, map, etc.) for you and your dog while you are out exploring these or other trails.

Lake Estes Trail

Accessible from a variety of points, including the Estes Park Visitor Center, the Lake Estes offers a paved fitness trail around the perimeter of the lake. During elk calving season, mama elk can often be found around Lake Estes and may be aggressive. So be careful with your dogs.

Kruger Rock

A beautiful hike from Hermit Park. Note a fee is required.

Crosier Mountain

Crosier Mountain can be approached from three different trails.

Lily Mountain

Starting off Hwy 7, Lily Mountain is a steep climb with beautiful vistas.

Lion Gulch

Starting from the Lion Gulch trailhead along Hwy 36, the Lion Gulch trail winds along a river and showcases historic sites from Colorado Homesteaders.
